Palmer and the continually fighting Arizona Cardinals

One of the surprises of the NFL Season has been the Arizona Cardinals. Yes I said surprises even though the team went 10-6 last year in what was without a doubt the hardest division last year. This year they started off hot once again winning their first 3 games before losing to the AFC champion Denver broncos after their bye week but have picked up again winning 5 straight after this Sundays game against their NFC west rival St. Louis rams.

Why do you ask are they surprising to be 8-1? Because time and time again players on both sides of the ball have been hurt on and off for the entire year. Before the season even started the Cards lost Darnell Dockett their all pro Defensive tackle and then early in the season they lost their leader at Linebacker John Abraham.

After this week’s game the Cards also lost their starting quarterback Carson Palmer for the rest of the year with an apparent Torn ACL. The same ACL he tore back in 2006 playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. Palmer and the Cards just came to an agreement on a 3 year contract extension that guaranteed him 20 million dollars.

Drew Stanton came in to replace Palmer and threw for a 48 yard touchdown pass to electric rookie receiver Josh Brown. Only time will tell if this is the end to a once great career for Carson Palmer. If he cannot return for the rest of the season the Arizona Cardinals will have a hard time continuing their winning streak and will most defiantly struggle in the playoffs.

Cardinals ended up winning the game 31-14 over the Rams.
