Monday Night Football Preview

Let me start off by saying that because of the current weather situation that is going on in Buffalo, the Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets game that was scheduled for Sunday at 1pm has been moved to Monday and it will be played in Detroit at 730pm

So let’s dive in to this week’s games.

Buffalo Bills (5-5) Vs New York Jets (2-8)

Coming off a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers the New York jets come into this Sunday’s game with a record of 2-8. All season long we have seen an injured secondary try their best to maintain the defensive system laid out by Defensive Guru Rex Ryan but time and time again they fall short of expectactions and this week’s game against a young and upcoming bills team will be no different.

The bills are playing much better than their 5-5 would Suggest with the team losing two close games to the Kansas city chiefs and the Houston Texans this year. The bills receiving core lead by rookie wonder Sammy Watkins of Clemson have turned heads this year and will be the focal point of the team in the upcoming years regardless of who is starting at Quarterback.

A win here for the bills is a must if they have any hopes of keeping their playoff hopes alive, especially with the AFC wild card race being full of great teams.

 Buffalo 18 NYJ 10

Baltimore Ravens (6-4) vs New Orleans Saints (4-6)

The Ravens come into Monday’s game sitting 3rd in a very talented AFC north division. A division known for putting at least 2 teams into the AFC playoffs and this year will be no different. This year the AFC north could put 3 teams into the playoffs.

The Ravens this year have been trying to figure out what the team’s identity is. After losing players like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed in the last two years the team has been struggling to find leadership on the defensive side of the ball while on the offensive side they have lost their bell cow of a running back in Ray Rice due to off-season issues but they have done well using a Running game by committee so far with the likes of Rookie Power back Lorenzo Taliaferro, Bernard Pierce and their starting running back Justin Forsett who is on pace for a 1200 yard season. Joe Flacco is having another Joe Flacco like season. He shows signs of brilliance that warrants his massive contract but then there are times where he leaves fans wondering how he won a superbowl ring two years ago.

The Saints come into Monday’s game knowing exactly who they are on the offensive side of the ball. Once again Drew Brees is the face of this team alongside all pro TE Jimmy Graham but you can tell something isn't right with the offensive line this year and yet the Saints are lucky enough to sit 2nd in a horrible NFC south division where all the teams are suffering from injuries it seems.

The Saints have never been known for an outstanding defense and rely heavy on Brees to score 24+ points a game and this year he hasn't be able to do so only scoring 24+ points a game in 6 out of 11 games this year. The saints are on a downswing this year and I see it continuing against the Ravens whose defense seems to be figuring out their new identity behind rookie MLB C.J Mosely of Alabama.
