NHL off-season Recap

Every off season the NHL goes through its stages of offseason activity. We have the Free agent frenzy starting July 1st where UFA’s and RFA’s are available (less so the RFA’s of course) for every team interested and before that we have the draft. This season was no different besides being one of the deepest drafts in years while also being the lightest in terms of talent in free agency.

Here are some of the more important trades and signings.


Toronto Maple Leafs send Phil Kessel (F), Tim Erixon (D), Tyler Biggs (F), conditional draft pick to

Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Nick Spaling (F), Kasperi Kapanen (F), Scott Harrington (D), 2016 3rd-round pick, conditional draft pick

Boston Bruins send Dougie Hamilton (D) to the Calgary Flames in exchange for 2015 1st-round pick, two 2015 2nd-round picks.

Boston Bruins send Milan Lucic (F) to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for 2015 1st-round pick (No. 13), Martin Jones (G), Colin Miller (D)

Colorado Avalanche send Ryan O'Reilly (F) and Jamie McGinn (F) to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Nikita Zadorov (D), Mikhail Grigorenko (F), J.T. Compher (F), 2015 2nd-round pick (No. 31)

St Louis Blues send T.J. Oshie (F) to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Troy Brouwer (F), Pheonix Copley (G), 2016 3rd-round pick


Mike Green (D) Left the Washington Capitals and signed a three-year, $18 million contract With The Detroit Red Wings.

Brad Richards (C) left the Chicago Blackhawks and signed a 1 year Contact (details were not given) with the Detroit Red Wings

Nazem Kadri (C) signed a 1-year contract extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs for $4.1 million

Devan Dubnyk (G) signed a 6-year , $26 million dollar contract with the Minnesota Wild

Joel Ward (RW) signed a 3-year, $9.75 million Contract with the San Jose Sharks

 Brandon Saad (LW) signed a 6-year, $36 million Contract with the Columbus BlueJackets
