Everyone was upset from the huge hit Ovi laid on Uncle Leo but the NHL is closing the book on Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin’s blindside hit on Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov, according to Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post.
Komarov underwent concussion tests following the game, the results of which have not yet been made known. Alex Ovechkin’s blindside bump on Leo Komarov appeared callous, but his reaction was nothing but compassionate.
The Washington Capital’s captain walked into the Toronto Maple Leaf’s training room to apologize to his former KHL line mate and even gave Komarov a hug. Class act Ovi.
Kamorov left the game and did not return following the hit, which Maple Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle described as “Opps, I hit you on purpose.”
With that said Jonathan Bernier stopped 35 shots and Tyler Bozak tallied twice as Toronto took down Washington by 6-2 count at the Air Canada Centre.
Joffrey Lupul and Morgan Rielly added a goal and assist each for the Maple Leafs, who have recorded points in each of their last four outings (3-0-2) since a 9-2 loss to Nashville on Nov. 18.
“The puck kind of is following me around a little bit. Im playing confident.” said Bozak.
The Maple Leafs host The Dallas Stars on December 2nd at the Air Canada Centre.
