Blake Comeau’s Hat trick lifted the Pittsburgh penguins to a 4-3 overtime win against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the CONSOL Energy Center on Wednesday. Comeau’s other hat trick was in game against the Chicago Blackhawks on March 2, 2010. He got to work early against the Leafs, opening the scoring 26 seconds into the contest by knocking in centering feed from Evgeni Malkin
Evgeni Malkin had a goal and two assists and Sidney Crosby got two as well giving the Pittsburgh captian 800 career points. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 24 shots for the Penguins, who won their second straight over time game.
Uncle Leo scored two goals and Tyler Bozak added a short-handed tally for Toronto.
“If we can continue to build on playing road games like we played tonight, we’ll give ourselves a chance to get points.” said Randy Carlyle.
After a scoreless third period, Comeau beat Jonathan Bernier on a slap shot from the point.
“I’m getting an opportunity to play with some really good players and it feels good to contribute. Said Comeau.
At least they earned a point. The Maple Leafs host Washington Capitals this Saturday at the Air Canada Center on CBC.
